IN THE YEAR OF DEVIL

I, A.K.B. Kumar (A.K.B.K) is the author of the english novel IN THE YEAR OF DEVIL, On 16^th October 2001, I have seen a photographic news regarding an agitation raised by a group of the Govt law college students Ernakulam in The Hindu daily of that date. Prior to that my friend informed me about a notice pertaining to the demand of banning my book by the said students. Their alligation and my explanations are mentioned below.

Allegation:- The novel portrays the mother earth as prostitute, liar, and fraud

IN THE YEAR OF DEVIL is a fiction absolutely. It's an autobiography og a Banyan Tree. This tree stand amids the world. This tree has a global angle of view. The tree understands a peculiar language known as COSMOLISH by which he converse not anly with fauna, flora and human beings but also with the heavenly bodies especially with his dearest mother, earth. She is his teacher and protector. Through this tree is a sacred one, the tree doesn't care for what is to be told and what is not to be told. That is the reason why somebody protest the subject matter of this novel. In a nutshell, tree is bold enough to narrate each and every scences of naked truth that he witnesses on our Mother Earth.

Allegation:- My novel has snubbed all the religious faiths

Everybody talk about Goheaders by giving names such as Jesus, Nabi, Krishna, Siva and so on by telling that they are omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. But scientifically nobody could prove what is God. The only natural God who helps the mankind is none but the electron. All the above said Gods are manmade. So they can be viewed im many ways. Somebody like it, somebody dislike it. That's why this protest againest snubbing God Heads.

Allegation:- The novel is obscene

This novel is of course comprises very many activities of sexual drsire. Why because, the novel covers a time period of 2000 years from barbarianism to the civilised postmodern period. During this transition, not only fauma, flora but also human being performed various methods to fulfil their sex for want of offspring as well as the enjoyment. But this book does not promote obscene purposefully.

Allegation:- The novel defames the womanhood

The agitator's alegation is that the book denounces womanhood. Ofcourse in the book some pages covers the cru;ties of woman - Mother, wife and lover. Some husband consider their "WIFE"s only as Wonderful Instrument for enjoyment. Likewise, some men consider sexual workers (Prostitutes) as mere VAGINA VENDORS. This novel critisises such kind of people strongly.

Allegation:- The novel defames prominent personalities

The demonstrators demand that the bookdefames reknowned polititions and prominent personalities. That is mere coincidence as mentioned in the PAGE ZERO. Ofcourse, if Mushraff goes through my book he will feel that he is also a character. So is the case of Bush, Bin Laden, Spate and Chandrika Kumaratunga. Now a days nobody bothers democracy.

Allegation:- The scentences in the cover page is alliged as false

The demonstrators demand the falsifying sentence on the coverpage. Bible, koran, Gita are the major religious sacred texts of the world. All these texts comprise of the conflicts, envy, selfishness and other evils. Thay also contain the counterfeit of it such as peace, goodness, sacrifices. My novel also is a mixture or you can say a palatable hotch-potch for the readers. Moreover, I demand my novel is like a bible, like a Koran and like a Gita and not is a bible, is is a Koran and is a Gita.

Allegation:- This novel misguides the generation

I don't demand my novel is either very clean or very pure. There may be dirts and impurities in it as in the cause of natural water and natural air. Pure air and distrilled water are not fit enough to consume. It should be blended with minerals and other gases respectively and proportionaly.

My book abviously emphasise that 'Never Believe Human Being'. They have the capabiliities even God can't render. Man tell lies, he cheats, he kills. There is a devil hidden in each and every man. Sometimes that devil rises. That's why the title IN THE YEAR OF DEVIL.

Above all, as the author of this book, I believe the readers of IN THE YEAR OF DEVIL will join shoulder to shoulder for promoting the democracy and demoting the fast growing coup'd at.

My novel IN THE YEAR OF DEVIL will not misguide the present as well as the forthcoming generation.
