About Author
I am a married man. But, about a decade ago, recently, I started loving with another lady. I knew her since my student hood. Innumberable times, especially during the wee hours of the night, we met. We embraced for hours and hours eventually dissolving both the bodies into one. Each time she provided me more energy and enthusiasm. In return, what ever she asked me to render, I rendered. We have an offspring. That is this ercation. My lover was none but Saraswathy or Minerva in exotic form of figurement.
I read stories of past and pareset. I learned histories of the past and present. I assesed the major mythologies of the world. We accept the periods B.C - Before Christ and A.D (Anno Domini). We mean it 'In The Year of Lord'. Is it true that these days are in the year of god indeed? There is a Devil hidden in each one of us. Knowingly or unknowingly the devil raises his head at times. We can see this sistuation in the day to day life. The conflicts, failure of democracy, the coup d' etal. Plus the growth of extremism prevails everywhere.
Confronting these, I planned to tell a tale from the so called A.D. 0 to this present state of A.D.2000. Who can narrate this story?. A short living Human cannot. An animal cannot. That is why I selected a tree. A gentle tree which is bold enough to narrate the stage by stage facts as fiction. And this deemed tree is Mr. Banyan. I advised Mr. Banyan not to hurt anybody's feelings and treat each and every charactors pari pasu. Mr. Banyan whole heartedly accepted it and kept his word till his death.
I love Malayalam language like my monther. Love towards mother have certain limitations. I love Hindi language as my wife. Love towards wife have also certain restrictions. Where as English Language is as if my paramor towards I can commune and deluge with love in any manner.
This imaginary autobiography of Mr. Banyan is the novel named "In the Year of Devil". The time, place, the animate and inanimate articles and charectors in this fantacy fiction is pure imaginary. Any resemblance caused is mere coincidential. It is up to the reader to express the Aaaha (Hurrah) or Oohoo (Alas) of this book!
